The Glenview Landfill in Chelmsford, Massachusetts was undergoing a $7.5M closure. Privately owned, the landfill struggled to meet state closure requirements and environmental protectoins for almost 20 years. The closure required comprehensive envirnmental investigations which SAK Environmental performed as a subcontractor to Langdon Enviornmental, the lead designer.
SAK Environmental implemented the field program and provided hydrogeologic expertise for a Supplemental Phase II Site Assessment at the landfill. Under the leadership of Langdon Environmental and serving Charter Environmental as the landfill operator, the Phase II was required by regulators to better define the pollution risk from nearby homes, adjacent wetland and a groundwater protection zone. Work includes deep and shallow aquifer monitoring wells, piezometers, groundwater monitoring, and human health risk characterization.
