Helping These Clients Is Bitter Sweet

SAK Environmental was awardeHelping These Clients Is Bitter Sweetd two separate contracts for long term on-site EHS staffing at two New England manufacturing facilities. But even winning new contracts can be bittersweet. Both facilities are scheduled to close with operations moving to China and Mexico. One facility manufactures industrial optical lenses through chemical deposition. The other facility manufacturers heavy equipment for the petrochemical industry. As operating budgets are streamlined, SAK is providing onsite EHS staffing to ensure employees continue to perform their work safely, and facility compliance is maintained with environmental protection regulations.  “There is a headwind in these situations” says Stephen Sakakeeny, Principal at SAK.  “Employee morale is waning along with production budgets so everyone at these facilities is affected from the floor to management”.  SAK’s value is to provide the technical and managerial expertise while staying immune to the darkening mood of closure.  The result is a facility that is safe, complies with environmental regulations, and fulfills corporate EHS performance standards.  This is particularly important in the decommissioning phase when non-routine work is performed, such as rigging, dismantling, flushing, etc., on accelerated schedules by a hectic mix of employees and subcontractors.
